E-Waste Policy

Rolex Logistics Pvt. Ltd. (“Rolex Logistics/Company) is an importer of electronic and electrical IT Equipments/Spares (Appliances / Products) involved in distribution of spares throughout India in 21 states. With pervasive use of electrical and electronic equipments in our daily operations, disposal or obsolete equipments is increasingly posing a threat to our environment. There is therefore a need to handle such disposals referred to as E-Waste - in a responsible manner in line with emerging global best practices and standards.

The Company recognises it's responsibility to protect the environment and strives to be in compliance with the applicable Laws of land and in lines with recently enacted E-waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2016. Rolex Logistics stands committed to the environment friendly disposal of E-waste. We have responsible disposal processes conforming to regulatory requirements and best practices.

Rolex Logistics has also made arrangements to build the necessary awareness amongst the clients/client's end customers and other related persons about the requirement of E-Waste Rules for enabling them to participate in the Government's initiative for environmentally sound management of E-Waste.

E-waste

E-waste is any electrical and/or electronic equipment, whole or in part which is not useable, or rejects from their usage and/beyond economical repair/reuse process and which are intended to be discarded. E-waste has been one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world. While e-waste contains valuable materials such as aluminium, copper, gold, palladium and silver, it also contains harmful substances like cadmium, lead and mercury .

E-waste management in India:

The Ministry of Environment and Forests(MoEF), Government of India has notified the E-waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2016 which became effective from 01 May 2016(“Rules”).

The Rules impose obligations on producers, manufacturers, retailers, users, etc on a wide range of products, including household appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines, when they reach the end of their lives. A product is said to reach “end of life” when the same cannot be used for the purpose it was originally designed, is beyond repair and needs to be discarded and disposed.

Recycling

We understand there is a need to encourage recycling of all useful and valuable material from e-waste so as to conserve the ever depleting natural resources. Recycling is an important way for individuals and business to reduce the waste they generate and de-risk the negative impact that irresponsible disposal may cause. Recycling also conserves natural sources. Reducing, reusing, recycling and buying recycled products benefit our natural world and our economy. The Company understands its responsibility and in this regard we have tied up with authorized e-Waste recyclers and defective recovery team for facilitating our customers to enable them to dispose off e-waste products after its end-of-life in the most environment friendly manner. In this process, the customer would be interacting directly with the defective recovery team meant for handling the e-waste products without involving any 3rd parties.

Guidance on the Disposal of End-of-Life Products:

The disposal of electronics is a growing problem because electronic equipment frequently contains hazardous substances. In the absence of proper awareness, the accumulation and then disposing e-waste in landfill can result in toxic emissions and radiation to the air, water and soil and pose a serious health and environmental hazards.

- It Shall be the endeavour or every user to maximize utilization of all Electric and electronic equipments to their full productive life.

- Only the electronic equipments which are non-operational and cannot be re-used for any other alternate purpose should be considered as E-waste for disposal.

- Consumers could contribute to resource conservation and prevent potential environmental problems by a simple action — the proper disposal of their old consumer durable products and its accessories. Electronic waste is to be disposed off separately from the general waste stream via designated collection facilities identified by the Company.

- Follow the 3R's - “ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" applies here.

  • Reduce your generation of e-waste through smart handling and good maintenance.

  • Reuse still functioning electronic equipment by donating to us.

  • Recyle those products that can not be repaired.
